Décor
Redecorating can be exciting, but it’s also expensive.
Our homes are a place to live in. Yes, we can construct a box-like structure, with a few choice and pertinent pieces of furniture, but can we really call that home?
Decorations, or accessories can make a house a home.
This does not mean you need to fill every available space with an ornament or piece of art. This means that you need to decide what your style is and go with what feels good to you.
Things to consider once you have all the basic amenity items, such as beds, white appliances, big-ticket items, cupboards, and flooring, all hover around the décor.
A few vital areas to focus in are would be:
- The entrance hallway – ensure that this area is both inviting and practical. It is the first space your guests see, and also needs to cater to the getting rid of umbrellas, coats, boots, and bags
- Lighting – dependent on where the natural lighting is entering, in each room, consider where you will put furniture and accessories. You want to be capturing the natural light as much as possible, before reverting to artificial lighting
- Mirrors – they can either open up a small room or make a large room look too big. Consider where you place a mirror and what your intention is with the mirror. Is it a place to check out your appearance, or are you trying to create an illusion of a larger area?
- Paint color – some people want to use the wall paint color to make a statement, but essentially less is always more. Consider neutral colors, and rather focus on bringing brighter colors in with your furniture and accessories
- Flooring – rugs and mats are great for certain rooms. They add a touch of warmth and color. Be sure to place these décor items strategically, so not to take away from the rest of the room
